Compared w/ NY there is a lot more personal interaction and it's not unusual to have someone out of the blue approach you (or vice versa) to simply strike up a conversation or to simply ask you out for coffee or what not.
In Texas in general I think you'll find a lot more of the men, not only exhibiting what some call "Southern Hospitality" or "Manners" but more of the general old fashioned norms of approaching women. I mentioned in the other post that Texas is a free market state.
